Because it seems like all I’ve been writing about these days is the transition.
Marc Ambinder has some good dish on what it takes to put a good transition team in place, including Obama’s inclination to surround himself with smart, Washington people who are already well aware of the White House drill. The Clinton transition team, apparently, spent way too much time working on the Cabinet appointments. In truth (and perhaps for those of us who know The West Wing like the back of our hands) the White House staff is much, much more important. That’s why John Podesta and Rahm Emanuel may prove invaluable.
[XCIX means 99, by the way. C stands for 100. The X before means 10 before (so XC is 90). The IX after means 9. Thus, XCIX means 99.]
