Paging “Pleasantville”

U.S. News and World Report’s Washington Whisper’s page is currently asking its readers to vote on who would run the best daycare facility: Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, Sarah Palin, or Nancy Pelosi.

Excuse my language, but are you f**king kidding me?

In the year 2009 the most substantive question U.S. News can bring itself to ask is whether four of the most politically famous women in the world would run a good daycare center? How about asking about John McCain or Joe Biden’s childcare abilities?

I’m sure the magazine aimed to be tongue in cheek, but come on.  Can you really be so unaware as to believe this is funny, at all?  This is the kind of joke from the days old, white Republican men sit around and wish for.

  1. That. Is. Truly. Awful.

  2. Sort of like the double standard applied to Palin and Obama during the election… Palin = worst mother of the year, while Obama – with children the same age – was dad of the year.

  3. @ Fastidious — I’m not sure if that was a double standard applied because Palin was a woman and Obama was a man. Palin traveled on the campaign with her school age children; by contrast, Obama’s daughter’s stayed at home in Chicago and were taken care of by their grandmother when Barack and Michelle were campaigning. Palin’s teenage daughter, whose own record of school attendance was lackluster, was discovered to be pregnant out of wedlock; the baby’s father was a high school dropout. There were some unfair slight’s directed toward Palin’s parenting skills, I’ll grant that, but I’m not sure there weren’t many warranted criticisms as well.

  4. I think we need to write in votes for John Boehner, he needs a new job.
