Good news! Maine’s governor just signed a bill into law legalizing gay marriage.
I asked Dave if the development makes him want to marry a man as much as this makes me want to abandon “opposite marriage” and find myself a lady to tie the know with, but he said for now he’s still safe from the gathering storm.
And the D.C. Council voted yesterday, 12-1, to recognize same-sex marriages in the District that are performed elsewhere. The vote had been 13-0, but mayor turned councilman Marion Barry called a mulligan, saying he didn’t know what they were voting on. He subsequently changed his vote. Then he had to defend himself against allegations of bigotry from one of the two openly gay councilmen on the council. Oh, Marion Barry.
We’ll be in D.C. this weekend. I hope neither of us gets caught in the gathering storm. I’m pretty committed to “opposite marriage.”
