This is hilarious.
Allegedly, the Arrested Development movie is going ahead full force now. Ron Howard confirmed as much at the Oscars on Sunday, but refused to mention which cast members will be participating. As Alex Leo of the Huffington Post said, this is an obvious reference to Michael Cera, who had made public statements about not wanting to do a movie:
Cera is reportedly the only cast member who hasn’t signed on, saying:
He told MTV he might even “put the script in a shredder.”
Jeffrey Tambor, who plays George Bluth (obviously) had what I estimate is a proper response from one long time guy in showbiz to the newbie:
If I have to call him up and say, ‘Get on set right now, young man,’ he’ll be there, the movie is going to happen this year, and Michael Cera is on board. Trust me.
Really, Cera? Come on. Get over yourself. Everyone knows Arrested Development fans are rabid — this one included — to see a movie. I think his intentions are good; no one likes to see a great TV series marred by a shitty movie (ahem, Sex and the City), and Cera just hipster enough to think about those sort of things, but I’m confident the team behind Arrested Development and will somehow or another work that joke into the movie. It’ll be great.
